Biography

2011: McFarlin was slowed by injuries several times during the season but still managed to play in 10 games...as usual he was a stalwart on special teams and at safety...McFarlin tied his career-high in tackles (11/seven solo) at home against Northern Michigan (Sept. 24)...he was in on seven tackles against both Hillsdale (Sept. 17) and Ohio Dominican (Nov. 5)...because of his sure hands, McFarlin has been a regular as a punt returner...he had three punt returns for a season-high 34 yards against Ohio Dominican...McFarlin had a season-long 24-yard punt return against ODU...McFarlin was named to the GLIAC All-Academic Team as a finance major...in 2012 McFarlin will move from the secondary to linebacker.

2010: McFarlin finished fourth on the team in tackles…he tied for fourth on the team in unassisted stops…the defensive back tied for third on the team in pass breakups (four)…he had season-high nine tackles (four solo) in the season-opening win against Bloomsburg (Sept. 4)…he had eight stops (six solo) at home against Northwood (Oct. 2)…McFarlin recorded four tackles (three solo), a forced fumble, fumble recovery and one tackle for loss against Lake Erie (Nov. 13)…he was in on six tackles and picked off a pass against Saginaw Valley State (Oct. 23)…McFarllin was named to the GLIAC All-Academic Team as a finance major.

2009: McFarlin was eighth on the team in tackles...he became a factor in the secondary during the second half of the season...he recorded a career-high 11 tackles (seven solo) at home against Indianapolis (Oct. 31)...the safety paced the team in tackles twice, both times with nine stops...he had nine tackles (six solo) and the first interception of his career at Findlay (Nov. 7)...he was in on a team-high nine tackles (seven solo) against Saginaw Valley State (Oct. 17).

2008: McFarlin was redshirted.

High School: McFarlin was a key performer for a strong Ashland High School program that advanced to the state Final Four...he was named first team All-Ohio Cardinal Conference as a junior and senior...as a senior he had 124 tackles (82 solo) and two interceptions...McFarlin also played wide receiver and as a senior caught 61 passes for 768 yards and nine touchdowns...for his career McFarlin had 280 tackles and seven interceptions...McFarlin was a team captain in football and basketball...McFarlin was named second team all-area in basketball...a fine all-around athlete, McFarlin lettered three times each in football and basketball and twice in baseball...McFarlin's father, Jeff, played football at Ohio Northern and his uncle, Randy Emmons and cousin, Greg Emmons, played basketball at AU.

Personal: The senior is the son of Jeff and Becky McFarlin.
