Box Score

It was Tori Wanat's birthday.

And the Ashland University women's lacrosse team gave her a great present: a win.

On Thursday, April 2, the Eagles played host to the Tiffin University Dragons from Ferguson Field at the Dwight Schar Athletic Complex. Heading into the contest with a five-game winning streak in hand, the Eagles won convincingly, 20-6.

With the win, the Eagles are now 9-4 on the campaign and a perfect 4-0 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play.

Early in the first quarter, forward Rachel Crumbacher got the scoring started for Ashland. She netted the game's opening goal just 18 seconds in, knifing her way past multiple defenders in the process.

She then tacked on five more goals in the quarter to score six in total.

In the rest of the quarter, the Dragons were able to score two themselves, but the Eagles led, 6-2, after 15 minutes.

The second frame would be no different for Crumbacher. She kept her elite-level play intact, scoring one goal and assisting on another. Forward Ashley Fisher drew most of the attention in this quarter, scoring three goals. Wanat also scored her first of the game, going coast to coast and burying a shot past the Tiffin goalkeeper.

Heading into halftime, the Eagles led, 14-2.

They would come out of the break, with a running clock in effect, and score six more goals to cap off the win, 20-6.

The Eagles were led by Crumbacher, who nearly set the program record for goals in a single game. She finished with seven on the game to go along with three assists.

Alongside Crumbacher, Ashland got great performances from both Fisher and Lily Cain, who each had three goals. Cain also finished with a strong four assists.

In her birthday celebration, Wanat was able to score two goals and dish out one assist.

As Ashland looks to carry this momentum into contests moving forward, the Eagles will have a week to rest and regroup. They'll take on the Walsh University Cavaliers on Thursday, April 9, at 4:00 p.m. EST from North Canton, Ohio.
