Women’s Lacrosse Opens League Play With Road Win, Makes Program History

Eagles Record Team's First-Ever Shutout

It was an emphatic win for Ashland University's women's lacrosse team to open 2026 Great Midwest Athletic Conference play on Sunday (March 15) afternoon – and the Eagles set some program history in the process.
 
A 21-0 victory at Ursuline was the result on Sunday, and it was the first shutout in the now-eight-season history of AU women's lacrosse. The game also marked the first time the Eagles didn't allow a shot.
 
Ashland improves to 4-4 overall and 1-0 in the Great Midwest, and the Arrows move to 1-5, 0-1.
 
In all, 15 different Eagles scored at least one goal, and 18 different Eagles posted at least one point.
 
Leading the offensive charge were senior attacker Ashley Fisher (three goals, two assists) and junior midfielder Lily Cain (one goal, four assists) with five points each.
 
Ashland outshot Lake Erie, 44-0, and the Eagles forced 30 Arrow turnovers. AU also won all 23 draw controls on Sunday.
