On a windy day suited more for extreme kite flying than college women's lacrosse, Ashland University lost a 13-12 decision to Northern Michigan on Friday (March 13) afternoon at Ferguson Field.
The Eagles are 3-4, and the Wildcats are 6-2.
Northern Michigan scored six unanswered goals at the end of the first quarter and into the second, but led Ashland by a single tally, 7-6, at halftime.
In the fourth quarter alone, there were four tie scores before the Wildcats' game-winner with 1:19 to play.
WRAPPING IT UP
- Sophomore midfielder Tori Wanat posted a season-high four goals on Friday and added an assist for five points.
- Both senior attacker Ashley Fisher and junior midfielder Ashley Drexler each added hat tricks, and Drexler picked up an assist for four points.
- Senior goalkeeper Annie Duncan stopped seven shots.
- Ashland out-shot Northern Michigan by a 37-22 count, and the Eagles forced 20 turnovers to AU's 17.
