On Friday (Feb. 6), Ashland University's softball team lost 10-1 and 15-0 five-inning decisions to Trevecca Nazarene at the New Smyrna Tournament to open 2026.

After senior second baseman
Danielle Robbins reached on an error and came all the way around to score on the play in the top of the first inning of Game 1, the Trojans scored five times in the bottom of the first.

Trevecca tacked on three runs in the bottom of the third and two more in the bottom of the fourth.

In the nightcap, the Trojans scored five times in the top of the first. Trevecca added runs in the second (one), third (five) and fourth (four) frames.

WRAPPING IT UP
- In Game 1, senior pitcher Cassidy Shaffer (0-1) allowed seven hits, six runs and two walks and struck out two in two innings.
- Game 2 saw senior pitcher Delaney Lis (0-1) yield six hits, six runs (two earned) and two walks and whiff four in two innings.Â
