Eagle Women Take Home Loss Against Cavaliers, Will Play In G-MAC Tourney

In the next-to-last regular-season game of 2025-26 on Thursday (Feb. 26) night, Ashland University's women's basketball team lost to Walsh, 68-57, at the Sherrill Hudson Court at Kates Gymnasium.

Despite the loss, the Eagles (14-11 overall, 10-9 Great Midwest Athletic Conference) qualified for the 2026 Great Midwest Tournament thanks to Ohio Dominican's loss at Malone on Thursday night. This will be the 19th consecutive season AU will play in a conference tourney.

A slow offensive start for both teams (Ashland led 7-6 at the game's first media timeout) continued for the remainder of the first quarter. The Cavaliers (16-11, 12-7) took a 12-10 lead into the second, despite six points, four rebounds and a steal from freshman forward Jenna Slates.

Walsh scored the first 11 points of the second stanza to extend its lead. By the break, the Cavaliers' advantage was 32-17. At the end of the third quarter, Walsh extended its lead to 19 points at 56-37.
