Francis Earns Second Great Midwest Weekly Award Of 2026 Season

For the second time in 2026, and the second time in three weeks, Ashland University junior back/base/tumbler Makiah Francis is the Great Midwest Athletic Conference's STUNT Athlete of the Week.
 
As revealed by the Great Midwest on Monday (Feb. 23) afternoon, Francis earned the award following a big game in the No. 4-ranked Eagles' 31-18 win at No. 10 Tiffin on Sunday (Feb. 22). Francis collected 59 ranking points, and contributed 22 of the 31 AU points on the scoreboard.
 
Her season rating moved up to 30.4 following Sunday's victory – which was the Eagles' program-record ninth in a row.
 
Ashland (9-2 overall, 6-0 Great Midwest) will go out of conference play on Saturday (Feb. 28) to compete in Alma, Mich., at 1:30 p.m. vs. No. 1 Division I California Baptist and at 5 p.m. vs. East Stroudsburg.
