The Ashland University men's soccer team dominated in their non-conference trip to New York against the D'Youville Saints in a 3-0 victory on Monday (Oct. 19) afternoon.
D'Youville outshot the Eagles 23-8, but were unable to capitalize on their opportunities; this marked the Saints' most shots in a loss since 2019 against Pitt-Bradford.
Junior goalkeeper Jaime Duran recorded seven saves, his sixth shutout of the season, his most recent against the Northwood Timberwolves on October 8.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Eagles were quick on the attack in the first half, with freshman midfielder Freddie Thompson's first goal of the season opening the scoring in the fifth minute with a 30-yard screamer assisted by junior midfielder Marley Marshall, making that his third dish of the season.
The high pressure from the Eagles continued, leading to a defensive mistake in the 23rd minute from Saints keeper Brennon Restorick that led to an own goal, putting the Eagles up 2-0.
Just 12 minutes later, junior defender
Noel Pataki sent a corner to the near post, where fellow junior defender
Daniel Drage narrowly squeezed a header past Restorick to make the score 3-0.
The second half slowed down dramatically, with both teams fighting for a goal.
Restorick saved sophomore forward
Tom Woodward's penalty kick in the 59th minute to keep the score 3-0.
Duran commanded the Eagles' net in the second half, with four saves to keep the Saints scoreless, and pitched Ashland's sixth shutout of the 2026 campaign.
