No. 15 AU Women Outlast Cavaliers, Remain In Packed Race For G-MAC Lead

Continuing to navigate through a tight top of the 2026 Great Midwest Athletic Conference table, the No. 15-ranked Ashland University women's soccer team used a late goal to top Walsh, 2-1, on the road on Thursday (Oct. 15) night.

With the win, the Eagles improve to 10-2-2 overall and 8-1-1 in the Great Midwest. Those 25 conference points are tied with Thomas More for second place in the league, one point behind first-place Cedarville.

Thursday's scoreless tie was broken by the Eagles in the 27th minute on an own goal. However, just less than eight minutes later, the Cavaliers (6-7, 5-5) re-tied the game at 1 on a goal from Paityn Marino in the 34th minute. Jamie Duskey had the assist.

Ashland once again took the lead in the 72nd minute, as senior defender Adi Turnbaugh found the back of the net for her second goal of 2026. The unassisted goal was top-shelf, and provided the game's final margin.

With a 14-2 shots advantage and a 13-1 corner kick advantage, Ashland dominated Thursday night's stat sheet.

The Eagles have won all seven meetings with the Cavaliers since joining the Great Midwest.

Ashland will play its second Great Midwest road game in three days on Saturday (Oct. 17) at 1 p.m. at Ursuline (3-9-1, 2-8).
