Ashland University's wrestling team has maintained a spot in the top 10 of the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) NCAA Division II rankings, as, on Thursday (Jan. 22) afternoon, the Eagles were slotted 10
th as a unit – with four individuals being nationally ranked.
Topping the AU ranked individuals is senior
Sevriano Garza (15-1 record, two pins), who is the No. 2 grappler at 174 pounds. Junior 149-pounder
Hayden Kuhn (17-2, three pins) is at No. 4 in his weight class.
Another junior,
Peyton Lemon (18-4), is sixth at No. 6 at 197 pounds, while senior
Wyatt Bailey (24-8, team high in wins and pins with 11) is in the No. 7 slot at 285 pounds.
Ashland (5-6) will face two Great Midwest Athletic Conference rivals on the road this weekend – No. 7 Tiffin on Friday (Jan. 23) at 6 p.m., then No. RV Findlay at 1 p.m. on Sunday (Jan. 25). That will be in the lead-up to the 2026 Great Midwest Championships on Jan. 31 at Kentucky Wesleyan.
