Softball Loses Twice To Arrows At Home

Robbins Ties Program Record For Career Steals

On Sunday (April 13) at Deb Miller Field at the Archer Ballpark Complex, Ashland University's softball team lost 1-0 and 8-3 to Ursuline in a pair of Great Midwest Athletic Conference matchups.

The Eagles are 22-12 overall and 12-4 in the league, and the Arrows are 6-22, 3-9.

Junior second baseman Danielle Robbins stole a base in each of the games on Sunday, and now has 63 in her Eagle career – tied with Sunny Litteral for the most in AU softball history.

The scoreless start to Game 1 became a 1-0 Ursuline lead in the top of the seventh inning, and the Eagles were shut out for the first time in 2025.

In the second game, the Arrows scored seven times in the third to go ahead. Ashland scored in the bottom of the frame on an RBI fielder's choice off the bat of sophomore catcher Delaney Keith, then senior right fielder Chloe McClure's two-out run-scoring single in the fourth cut the deficit to 7-2.

Ursuline scored once in the fifth to go up 8-2, then senior designated player Cassidy Shaffer collected a two-out RBI single in the seventh for the game's final margin.

…AND THE REST OF THE STORY
  • Junior Delaney Lis (11-4) was the hard-luck loser in Game 1, surrendering just five hits, a run and a walk and striking out five in the complete game.
  • Shaffer, junior first baseman Sidney Payton and McClure each had two hits in Game 2.
  • Senior Bryn Grabowski (4-6) went the first two innings in the nightcap, allowing four hits, three runs (two earned) and three walks and striking out three.
