First-Place Women’s Lacrosse Tops Pioneers On Senior Day

Ashland University's women's lacrosse team maintained its spot in first place in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference following a 16-2 win over Malone on Saturday (April 12) afternoon at Ferguson Field.

The Senior Day victory puts the Eagles at 10-5 overall and 6-0 in the Great Midwest – and gives AU a second consecutive double-digit win campaign (program-record 11 wins in 2024). Ashland has won seven of its last eight outings.

Malone is 10-7, 3-4.

Ashland's lone senior, defender Julia Intagliata, started on Saturday and was part of an Eagle defense which kept Malone to two goals and 11 shots.

CONTINUED STRONG OFFENSE…AND THE REST OF THE STORY
  • The Eagles' 16 goals came from eight different players. Saturday marked the ninth time this spring that Ashland has scored at least 16 times in a game.
  • Fifteen of AU's 16 goals on Saturday were assisted.
  • Junior attacker Ashley Fisher paced the Eagle offense with seven points (three goals, four assists), and sophomore attacker Ashley Drexler added two goals and four assists for six points.
  • Ashland out-shot Malone by a 33-11 count, and forced 26 Pioneer turnovers.
