Women’s Lacrosse Closer To Outright G-MAC Regular-Season Title After Win At ’Wolves

On Wednesday (April 16) afternoon at Northwood, Ashland University's women's lacrosse team moved one step closer to its first outright conference regular-season championship following a 23-6 victory over the Timberwolves.

The Eagles, in equaling their single-game goals record set earlier this spring, are 11-5 overall and 7-0 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. Ashland also has tied its program mark for single-season wins, as well.

Northwood is 4-8, 1-5.

Twelve different Eagles scored at least one goal on Wednesday, and 13 different Eagles had at least one point. Junior attacker Ashley Fisher led the AU offense with five goals and four assists for nine points, and with 50 goals this season, becomes the first Ashland women's lacrosse player to post at least that many in two different seasons.

Fisher's 94 points this season also are a new program standard.

Ashland also scored 23 goals at home vs. Ursuline on March 22.

AND MORE OFFENSE…AND THE REST OF THE STORY
  • Junior attacker Rachel Crumbacher finished with eight points (five goals, three assists) on Wednesday. Both Fisher (44) and Crumbacher (36) have broken the previous program single-season assist mark.
  • Junior goalkeeper Annie Duncan, the reigning Great Midwest defensive Athlete of the Week, made four saves and allowed just two goals in 30 minutes of action.
  • Ashland out-shot Northwood, 47-15, and forced 22 Timberwolves turnovers.
