No. 5 AU Women To Play D-II Midwest Regional At Grand Valley State

Eagles To Open NCAA Postseason Vs. Ferris State

The NCAA revealed its 2025 Division II women's basketball postseason field on Sunday (March 9) night, and No. 5 Ashland University will go to Grand Valley State to play in the Midwest Regional.
 
Ashland is 30-3 overall, and will take a 24-game winning streak up north. The Eagles won the Great Midwest Athletic Conference regular-season and tournament championships for the fourth straight season.
 
On Friday (March 14), No. 2 seed Ashland's regional quarterfinal opponent will be No. 7 seed Ferris State (21-10). The other three quarterfinal matchups will be No. 1 seed Grand Valley State (32-2) vs. No. 8 seed Quincy (25-7), No. 4 seed Wayne State (19-11) vs. No. 5 seed Lewis (26-3), and No. 3 seed Northern Michigan (22-8) vs. No. 6 seed Hillsdale (21-9).
 
The regional semifinals will be on Saturday (March 15), and the regional championship game will be Monday (March 17). Game times and ticket information will be released at a later time.
 
Ashland's women's basketball program has qualified for the NCAA Tournament 15 times (2004, 2006, 2012-13, 2015-25), won national championships in 2013, 2017 and 2023, and was national runner-up in 2012 and 2018. The Eagles' all-time NCAA postseason record is 36-10 (.783).
 
Over the last 14 seasons (2011-12 to 2024-25), Ashland is 420-44 (.905) with three NCAA Division II national titles, two national runner-up finishes, three undefeated seasons, a D-II-record 73-game winning streak, nine 30-win seasons, 13 NCAA postseason qualifications, 10 conference regular-season championships, 11 conference tournament titles, and a mark of 227-14 (.942) at the Sherrill Hudson Court at Kates Gymnasium.
 
In the Midwest Region, automatic qualifiers come from the winners of the Great Midwest, Great Lakes Valley Conference and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The other five teams are chosen as at-large entries.
