On Friday (March 7) in Florida, the No. RV Ashland University baseball team lost a 15-7 decision to California, Pa., in the Eagles' next-to-last game of their Spring Break trip.

Ashland is 6-6 on the season, and the Vulcans are 7-2.

The Vulcans broke the scoreless tie in the top of the second inning with two runs, but the response came in the form of a two-run home run from senior third baseman
Jeremiah Cangelosi in the bottom of the fourth.

Cal Pa scored in the top of the fifth to regain the lead, then added three more tallies in the seventh for a 6-2 advantage.

Ashland got three runs back in the bottom of the seventh on a solo home run from freshman center fielder
Carter Weaver and a two-run Cangelosi single. The Vulcans, however, kept the back-and-forth alive with two more runs in the eighth, and the Eagles scored two more in the eighth when Weaver sent another one over the fence.

California, however, scored seven in the ninth to ultimately pull away.

- Cangelosi finished 3-for-5 with the homer, four RBIs and a run scored, and Weaver hit the two round-trippers in the game's last three innings.
- Junior first baseman Sam Witt and junior shortstop Collin Overholt each had two of AU's 12 hits.
- Graduate left-handed pitcher Marshall Leishman (0-2) allowed 10 hits, five runs and no walks and struck out two in six innings.
