No. RV Eagle Baseball Ends Spring Trip With Late Rally For Win Over Point Park

A six-run bottom of the eighth inning lifted the No. RV Ashland University baseball team to a 9-3 Florida trip-ending win over Point Park on Saturday (March 8) morning.

The Eagles return to Ohio at 7-6, while the Pioneers are 7-3.

Saturday's win is Ashland head coach John Schaly's 1,321st as a collegiate head baseball coach – three away from tying Mike Metheny (1,324) of Southeastern Oklahoma for the most wins in NCAA Division II baseball history.

Ashland scored three times in the bottom of the fourth, and Point Park posted two runs in the second and one in the sixth, and the game was tied at 3 going into the bottom of the eighth.

That's when junior left fielder Billy Howard hit an RBI single, freshman right fielder Sean Krueckeberg added a two-run double, senior third baseman Jeremiah Cangelosi delivered a run-scoring single, and senior catcher Ben Peltz launched a two-run home run.
