The Ashland University softball team is 7-5 on the 2025 season after splitting two games in Florida on Tuesday (March 4) afternoon – a 10-5 win over Dominican following a 7-6 loss at the hands of Sioux Falls.
In the win over Dominican, the Eagles posted three runs in the top of the first inning, one run in the third and a six-spot in the fifth. Senior catcher
Rachel Reuter drove in two in the first, and sophomore left fielder
Delaney Maynard brought in two in the fifth.
Against Sioux Falls, sophomore designated hitter
Delaney Keith got AU on the board first with an RBI single in the bottom of the first. Sophomore third baseman
Sophia Martin followed with a run-scoring double in the same inning.
The Cougars went ahead in the top of the sixth inning after scoring four runs, then they added three more in the seventh.
Ashland rallied in the seventh and closed to within a run thanks to an RBI single by Maynard, a run-scoring double by senior right fielder
Laney Eller and Eller scoring on a passed ball. The Eagles, however, couldn't get the tying run on base.
