On Saturday (March 22) afternoon at Ferguson Field, Ashland University's women's lacrosse team set a new program record for goals in a game in a 23-2 victory over Ursuline at Ferguson Field.
The Eagles' third straight win and fourth in the last four contests moves them to 6-4 overall and 2-0 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. This was the last of six straight home games for AU, in which it went 4-2.
Ursuline is 1-4, 0-2.
In the process of scoring a school-record 23 goals, 12 different Eagles scored at least one goal, and eight recorded at least two.
Freshman attacker
Tori Wanat tied the school record for assists in a game with six, and ended with a goal for seven points. Junior attacker
Rachel Crumbacher also finished with seven points on three goals and four assists.
MOVING THE BALL AROUND…AND THE REST OF THE STORY
- Ashland picked up 21 assists on its 23 goals on Saturday.
- Junior goalkeeper Annie Duncan and sophomore keeper Ainsley Witte combined to shut Ursuline out in the first three quarters.
- The Eagles took 34 shots to the Arrows' eight, and forced 19 Ursuline turnovers.
