The No. 9-ranked Ashland University women's and men's indoor track and field teams began their weekend on Friday (Feb. 14) at the Grand Valley State Big Meet and Kent State's Doug Raymond Invitational.

At GVSU, senior
Lily Dowdell earned her third school record this season, finishing in third place in the women's 5,000-meter run in 16:27.78. It was a new provisional time for the 2025 NCAA Division II Championships, March 13-15 in Indianapolis, Ind., and it broke the previous school record by more than a minute.

Earlier this indoor campaign, Dowdell broke the AU women's indoor records in both the 3,000 run and the mile run, and was part of a school-record-breaking distance medley relay.

In the men's 800 run, junior
Daylen Madison improved upon his previous provo time, ending at 1:50.25, while graduate
Hope Sievert earned a new provo time in the women's 800 run at 2:10.47.

At Kent State, first-place finishes were earned by junior
Abby Wheeler in the women's high jump (1.65 meters/5-feet-5), sophomore
Leslie Pollock in the women's weight throw (19.00 meters/62-feet-4), fifth-year
Doniven Jackson in the men's 200 dash (21.78 seconds), and head coach
A.G. Kruger in the men's weight throw (19.94 meters/65-feet-5).

Molly Winner was second in the women's weight throw (18.84 meters/61-feet-9Âľ), and senior
Jacob Pielech (21.93 seconds) and sophomore
Brianna Chenevey (24.32 seconds) were third in the men's and women's 200 dash, respectively.
