On Saturday (Feb. 1) in the second and final day of the Music City Invitational outside of Nashville, Tenn., Ashland University's softball team lost 6-3 to McKendree and 6-1 to Illinois-Springfield to finish its opening 2025 weekend at 2-2.

In the day's first game vs. McKendree, the Bearcats opened the scoring in the top of the second inning with six runs.

The game remained at 6-0 until the bottom of the seventh, when the Eagles posted three runs on RBI singles from senior pinch-hitter

The contest vs. Springfield saw sophomore third baseman
Sophia Martin rap an RBI double in the top of the second – only to have the Prairie Stars score once in the bottom of the second and five times in the bottom in the fourth.

- Against McKendree, Robbins and senior designated player Cassidy Shaffer each recorded two hits.
- Freshman pitcher Abby Measel (0-1) allowed three hits, six runs and two walks in 1 2/3 innings.
- The game vs. UIS saw Shaffer go 2-for-3, and junior pitcher Mady Hannahs (0-1) yield four hits, four runs (two earned) and four walks and strike out two in 3 2/3 innings.
