Just five games into her collegiate career, Ashland University freshman forward
Jenna Slates has earned Great Midwest Athletic Conference women's basketball Athlete of the Week laurels for the first time.
As announced by the Great Midwest on Monday (Dec. 1) afternoon, Slates is the latest Eagle to be honored by the league following a career game in the Eagles' 77-71 win at then-No. 12-ranked Union on Nov. 24.
Slates finished with career highs of 16 points, 16 rebounds and three steals, added a blocked shot, and was 8-of-15 from the field, in 33 minutes against the Bulldogs.
She is averaging 9.8 points, 10.4 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 1.2 steals per game so far in 2025-26, while shooting 46.8 percent from the field and 71.4 percent from the free-throw line. Through Sunday (Nov. 30), Slates has the third-most boards per game in NCAA Division II among freshmen.
No. RV Ashland (3-2) will finish a four-game road swing on Monday at 5:30 p.m. at California, Pa. (3-5).
