Williams Garners NABC/D2CIDA National Player of the Week Honors

One day, you're the conference's Athlete of the Week in your sport.

Then, the next day, you're the national Player of the Week in your sport.

This is the story of Ashland University senior forward Maceo Williams. On Monday (Nov. 24) afternoon, he was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference men's basketball Athlete of the Week. On Tuesday (Nov. 25) afternoon, Williams was lauded as the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC)/Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2CIDA) national Player of the Week.

Williams has received both awards following his efforts in the Eagles' wins last week vs. Salem (89-69) at the Sherrill Hudson Court at Kates Gymnasium, and at the Indiana (Pa.) Thanksgiving Classic against IUP (82-80) and Pitt-Johnstown (87-79).

He averaged 22.3 points, 10.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.3 steals per game for the week, shooting 69.4 percent from the field and 73.9 percent from the free-throw line. Williams sported back-to-back double-doubles at IUP Classic – 25 points and 11 rebounds vs. IUP, and 20 points and 13 boards vs. UPJ.

Through five games in 2025-26, Williams is going for 20.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists per contest, while making 64.3 percent from the floor and 69.8 percent from the charity stripe.

Ashland (4-1) will play host to Kent State-Tuscarawas (4-3) at 1 p.m. on Wednesday (Nov. 26). This is Youth Day (kids younger than 12 get free admission), and well as a food drive – free admission with five or more non-perishable items for the Associated Charities Food Bank.
