If there can be any craziness in the last five minutes of a 0-0 soccer game, Thursday (Sept. 26) night's women's contest between No. 7 Ashland University and Northwood at Ferguson Field had it.
Â
The Eagles seemingly scored the game-winner off a set piece as the clock ticked down to 0:00, but it ultimately was waived off, leaving the game scoreless at the end.
Â
Ashland is 4-1-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, while the Timberwolves are 3-0-3, 1-0-1.
Â
The key play in keeping the game scoreless came in the 87
th minute, as Northwood's only corner kick resulted in a sprawling save by fifth-year goalkeeper
Mackenzie Simon.
Â
This was the second consecutive meeting between Ashland and Northwood in which regulation ended at 0-0, and the third in the last four in which the game was knotted after 90 minutes.
Â
CORNERS, CORNERS, AND MORE CORNERS…AND THE REST OF THE STORY
