Women’s Lacrosse Loses First Conference Game Of 2024 At Walsh

In a game for sole possession of first place in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference standings on Tuesday (April 9), Ashland University's women's lacrosse team lost 18-12 at Walsh.
 
The Cavaliers are 8-4 overall and 5-0 in the Great Midwest – and have a one-game lead in the loss column over the Eagles (9-6, 4-1), and Findlay and Tiffin (each 3-1 in the league).
 
Ashland led 3-2 early on back-to-back goals by sophomore midfielder Ashley Fisher, but Walsh later took the lead for good at 4-3.
 
Tuesday's game featured a lengthy weather delay with 11:40 to go in the game.
 
POST-GAME NUGGETS
  • Sophomore attacker Rachel Crumbacher paced the Ashland offense with four goals and an assist for five points, while freshman attacker Ashley Drexler recorded a hat trick.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Maria Mancuso (7-6) made eight saves on Tuesday.
