Softball Loses At Findlay Twice In Extra Innings

Ashland University's softball team returned to the diamond for the first time in eight days on Saturday (April 6) at Findlay, losing a pair of extra-inning games to the Oilers – 5-4 in 10 innings and 2-1 in eight innings.
 
The Eagles are 13-16 overall and 7-5 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, while the Oilers are 17-15, 4-6.
 
Ashland scored four runs in the top of the first inning of Game 1, and kept that 4-0 lead until the last two innings. The Oilers scored once in the bottom of the sixth, then three times in the bottom of the seventh, to force extra innings – where Findlay scored once to win the game.
 
In Game 2, the Eagles scored their only run in the top of the first inning, then the Oilers scored once in the fourth and once in the eighth.
 
POST-GAME NUGGETS
  • Sophomore second baseman Danielle Robbins was 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and a run scored in Game 1. Junior pitcher Cassidy Shaffer (2-4) allowed two hits, an unearned run and a walk and struck out three in 3 1/3 innings.
  • Freshman Madison Milligan (3-3) threw 2 1/3 innings of relief, yielding three hits, a run and a walk and whiffing two.
