Trailing 3-2 through seven innings on Saturday (March 9) in its final Florida trip game against Grand Valley State, Ashland University's baseball team once again flashed its 2024 come-from-behind form, knocking off the Lakers 5-3 in 11 innings.

The Eagles return to Ohio with a 10-1 record – their best mark through 11 games since also being 10-1 in 2002. Ashland also has a seven-game winning streak. The Lakers are 7-4.

Ashland opened the scoring with two runs in the top of the second inning – on an RBI single by junior left fielder
Ian Sanders, and a run which came in on a double play. After the Lakers scored once in the bottom of the fourth and twice in the sixth to take a 3-2 lead, Ashland knotted the score at 3 in the eighth on an RBI fielder's choice off the bat of sophomore pinch-hitter
Ryan Shimek.

th, a GVSU error with two outs allowed to Eagle runs to score.

POST-GAME NUGGETS
- Junior left-hander Marshall Leishman (2-0) went the last 5 2/3 innings scoreless for the win on Saturday, striking out three and allowing just five hits.
- Junior third baseman Jeremiah Cangelosi was 4-for-6 with two runs scored, and sophomore second baseman Gavin Dobbels went 3-for-6 with a run scored in AU's 14-hit attack.
