Ashland University's baseball team continues to be in the midst of its best start in 22 years, and won again for the eighth time in a row on Friday (March 15) afternoon at Tomassi Stadium and Donges Field at the Archer Ballpark Complex, 4-1, over Davenport.

The Eagles are 11-1 through 12 games – as they were in 2002. The Panthers are 3-13.

Ben Peltz drove in Ashland's first two runs on Friday – on an RBI single in the bottom of the first and a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth. Junior left fielder
Ian Sanders had an RBI single and sophomore second baseman
Gavin Dobbels stole home in the bottom of the fourth.

POST-GAME NUGGETS
- Junior left-hander Marshall Leishman (3-0) tossed a gem for the victory, striking out 10 and allowing four hits, one run (none earned) and one walk in 8 1/3 innings. Senior righty Zac Common earned his first save of 2024 by getting the last two out of the game.
- Of the Eagles' 11 hits, two each came from Peltz, sophomore catcher Collin Overholt, junior third baseman Jeremiah Cangelosi and sophomore right fielder Chris Franks.
