For a second consecutive day, a six-run inning lifted Ashland University's baseball team to a win on its Florida Spring Break trip.
Â
On Thursday (March 7) afternoon, it was a six-run bottom of the fifth which propelled the Eagles to a 6-3 win over Seton Hill. It was Ashland's fifth consecutive victory overall, and put AU's record at 8-1 – its best nine-game start since 2019.
Â
The Griffins are 8-4, and saw their four-game win streak snapped.
Â
Seton Hill scored single runs in the top of the first and third innings, then Ashland threatened with runners on second and third and no outs in the bottom of the fifth. Graduate shortstop
Devin Hukill delivered the game-tying two-run single, then junior first baseman
Sam Witt launched a grand slam to put AU ahead for the first time at 6-2.
