Lis’ Complete-Game Shutout Lifts Softball To Florida Win Over Crookston

Sophomore pitcher Delaney Lis earned her first collegiate complete-game shutout, twirling a four-hitter in Ashland University softball's 2-0 win over Minnesota Crookston in Florida on Tuesday (March 5) afternoon.

The Eagles (5-8) split the day, losing 4-3 in eight innings to Southern New Hampshire earlier on Tuesday.

Lis (2-3) struck out two and didn't walk a batter in Ashland's first shutout of 2024, and lowered her season earned-run average from 6.26 to 4.32.

Ashland's lone runs came in the top of the third inning, when freshman left fielder Delaney Maynard and junior first baseman Lily Rockwell delivered back-to-back RBIs. Maynard was 2-for-3 in the victory.

POST-GAME NUGGETS
  • Against SNHU, Maynard was 2-for-4 with a double, inside-the-park home run, a run scored and two RBIs.
  • Freshman pitcher Madison Milligan (1-1) took the loss after allowing six hits, three runs (two earned) and three walks and striking out two in four innings of relief.
