A second straight win at Ferguson Field, a 14-9 decision over Lewis on Friday (March 15) night, has moved Ashland University's women's lacrosse team over .500 on the 2024 season.
The Eagles are 5-4, while the Flyers are 3-3.
"We are finally coming together, and building that strong, cohesive unit," said Ashland head coach
Lauren Simko. "The defense played unbelievable, and now our attack is becoming a lot more balanced."
En route to the victory, fifth-year attacker
Cassady Becker, who earlier this season became the program's all-time points leader, moved into the top spot in program history in terms of career goals with 119.
Becker finished Friday night with five goals and an assist for six points, while sophomore attacker
Ashley Fisher ended with five goals and two assists for seven points to lead AU.
POST-GAME NUGGETS
- Sophomore midfielder Lauren Hinders dished out a team-high four assists in the victory.
- "She is an incredibly selfless player," Simko said. "She grinds, and she played really great game."
- Sophomore goalkeeper Maria Mancuso (3-4) made six saves in the win.
- Ashland made all 14 of its clear attempts, and had 27 shots to Lewis' 25.
