On Friday (March 1) afternoon, Ashland University's baseball team started its annual Florida Spring Break trip to a 12-8 loss vs. Minnesota State-Mankato.

The Eagles (3-1) put up two runs each in the top of the first, second and fifth innings, and a run in the seventh put them ahead 7-5. The Mavericks (5-5), however, scored seven runs in the bottom of the seventh en route to the victory.

POST-GAME NUGGETS
- Junior center fielder Cam Miller had three of AU's 12 hits (3-for-5, three runs scored, double, triple, RBI), and both junior catcher Ben Peltz and sophomore left fielder/catcher Collin Overholt each hit a home run and drove in two.
- Peltz leads the Eagles with three home runs and eight RBIs in four games so far in 2024.
- Junior left-hander Marshall Leishman struck out 10 and allowed two hits, two runs and two walks in 4 2/3 relief innings. Sophomore right-hander Drew Becker (0-1) gave up four runs following Leishman.
