Men’s Soccer Tops Timberwolves, Will Host Great Midwest Quarterfinal

On Wednesday (Nov. 6) afternoon, Ashland University's men's soccer team clinched the No. 3 seed and a Saturday (Nov. 9) night home game in the 2024 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament following a 3-1 win at Northwood.

The Eagles conclude the regular season at 10-6-1 overall and 9-4-1 in the league after a 1-5 start to the campaign. The Timberwolves are 4-11-2, 4-9-1.

In the 10th minute, fifth-year midfielder Oliver Whaley scored his sixth goal of the season, unassisted, to put the Eagles on the board. Whaley then buried his seventh goal of the fall on a penalty kick in the 63rd minute for a 2-0 Eagle advantage.

For Whaley, that is his fourth career brace.

Then, in the 79th minute, graduate forward Rodri Jimenez scored his second goal of the season with help from fifth-year forward Yaya Dosso, his second assist of the season.

Northwood got into the score column in the 81st minute on a goal from Lathan Baker.

Senior goalkeeper Ty Bowden picked up the win in the nets, making two saves in the process.
