On Wednesday (Nov. 6) afternoon, Ashland University's men's soccer team clinched the No. 3 seed and a Saturday (Nov. 9) night home game in the 2024 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament following a 3-1 win at Northwood.
The Eagles conclude the regular season at 10-6-1 overall and 9-4-1 in the league after a 1-5 start to the campaign. The Timberwolves are 4-11-2, 4-9-1.
In the 10
th minute, fifth-year midfielder
Oliver Whaley scored his sixth goal of the season, unassisted, to put the Eagles on the board. Whaley then buried his seventh goal of the fall on a penalty kick in the 63
rd minute for a 2-0 Eagle advantage.
For Whaley, that is his fourth career brace.
Then, in the 79
th minute, graduate forward
Rodri Jimenez scored his second goal of the season with help from fifth-year forward
Yaya Dosso, his second assist of the season.
Northwood got into the score column in the 81
st minute on a goal from Lathan Baker.

- Ashland has won at least 10 games for the second time since the program was reinstated in 2016, and for the 13th time in 30 seasons as an NCAA side.
- The Eagles out-shot the Timberwolves 15-8 on Wednesday, and AU took eight of the game's 11 corner kicks.
- Ashland is 3-0-1 in the last four meetings with Northwood.
