To open the 2024 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament at Ferguson Field on Saturday (Nov. 9) night, Ashland University's men's soccer team lost 3-1 to visiting Thomas More.
The Saints move on to the conference semifinals at 8-9-2, while the Eagles are 10-7-1.
After the Eagles had the better of play for most of the first 30-plus minutes, the Saints scored in the 32
nd minute when Will Fox put the ball in the back of the net following assists by Mauricio Medina and Charlie Allan.
Flo Meyer then scored on a header in front of the Eagle net following a corner kick with 25 minutes to go in the game to put the Saints ahead 2-0. Arkin Ulusoy had the assist.
Thomas More scored for a third time in the 80
th minute when Finn Battenstein headed the ball in on a feed from Charlie Allan.
Ashland dented the scoreboard in the 87
th minute, as graduate forward
Rodri Jimenez took a rebound and scored his third goal of the season.
