In the last regular-season home match of the 2024-25 season, Ashland University's volleyball team defeated Ohio Dominican, 3-1 (25-18, 23-25, 25-22, 25-13) on Tuesday (Nov. 12) night at the Sherrill Hudson Court at Kates Gymnasium.
Â
The Eagles, with one regular-season match to go overall, inch closer to both a Great Midwest Athletic Conference East Division title and a home conference tournament quarterfinal match at 19-9 overall and 12-3 in the league. The Panthers are 11-15, 6-7.
Â
"I was very proud of how we kind of dealt with adversity," said Ashland head coach
Katie Kuhn, "especially how we finished in that fourth set. I think it was a great team effort. We've played four matches in six days. That's a tough stretch at the end of the season.
Â
"I really proud of the girls in how they fought tonight."

Freshman outside hitter
Samantha Young ended the night with a match-high-tying 15 kills to go with a .270 hitting percentage and six digs.
Â
"It's gone by so fast. I can't believe we only have one more in-season game," said Young, third on the team this season with 248 kills and second with 233 digs and 28 service aces. "I'm excited to get into tournament play. We're always staying on top of the game plan."
Â
Said Kuhn, "It's been awesome to see her growth. She's just continued to soak up everything. She's a sponge. She's constantly wanting to get better. It's tough as a freshman to be a six-rotation player."
