Volleyball Loses Regular-Season Finale At Yellow Jackets

Queen Sets New Eagle Single-Season Digs Record

In a matchup of Great Midwest Athletic Conference division champions on Saturday (Nov. 16) night, Ashland University's volleyball team lost 3-2 (25-21, 25-23, 21-25, 24-26, 15-13) at Cedarville.
 
The Eagles, winners of the East Division, are 19-10 overall and 12-4 in the league. The Yellow Jackets, winner of the South Division, are 14-10, 10-5.
 
Sophomore libero Abbey Queen recorded 32 digs on Saturday night, and with 600 on the season, has set the new program single-season record, which was 598 by Marci Zegarac in 2013.

  • Sophomore setter Kylee Urban finished the match with a career-high 56 assists, to go with 11 digs.
  • Queen and Urban were joined in having double-digit digs by freshman outside hitter Samantha Young (17) and junior defensive specialist Macy McNamara (11).
  • Young had a team-high 19 kills, fellow freshman outside hitter Sara Krizsa added 16, and sophomore middle hitter Ravin Morgan and senior right-side hitter GraceAnn Hartman each picked up 11.
  • Saturday's match featured 35 tie scores and 18 lead changes.
