Men’s Soccer Blanks Yellow Jackets, Win Sixth In Last Seven Games

The roll that Ashland University's men's soccer team has been on of late continued on Thursday (Oct. 24) night at Cedarville, as the Eagles won 2-0 to move to 6-0-1 in their last seven contests.

Ashland improves to 7-5-1 overall and 6-3-1 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, while the Yellow Jackets are 4-7-3, 2-5-3. The victory was the Eagles' second over Cedarville this season and fourth overall in the series, and AU has moved into fourth place alone in the conference table.

It didn't take long for the Eagles to take the lead Thursday, as an unassisted goal from fifth-year forward Oliver Whaley in the eighth minute, his fifth of the season, put AU ahead 1-0.

Ashland's second goal was potted by senior forward Pedro Faria, his sixth of the campaign, in the 53rd minute. Whaley had the assist, his first of 2024.
