The roll that Ashland University's men's soccer team has been on of late continued on Thursday (Oct. 24) night at Cedarville, as the Eagles won 2-0 to move to 6-0-1 in their last seven contests.
Ashland improves to 7-5-1 overall and 6-3-1 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, while the Yellow Jackets are 4-7-3, 2-5-3. The victory was the Eagles' second over Cedarville this season and fourth overall in the series, and AU has moved into fourth place alone in the conference table.
It didn't take long for the Eagles to take the lead Thursday, as an unassisted goal from fifth-year forward
Oliver Whaley in the eighth minute, his fifth of the season, put AU ahead 1-0.
Ashland's second goal was potted by senior forward
Pedro Faria, his sixth of the campaign, in the 53
rd minute. Whaley had the assist, his first of 2024.
BOWDEN EXTENDS HIS SCORELESS STREAK…AND THE REST OF THE STORY
- Senior goalkeeper Ty Bowden extended his consecutive scoreless minutes streak to 350 after his fourth clean sheet of the season and third in a row. Bowden made two saves in lowering his season goals-against average to 1.29.
- Ashland doubled Cedarville in shots on Thursday (8-4), and did the same in corner kicks (8-4).
