No. 4 Women’s Soccer Notches Fifth Straight Win, Stays In Great Midwest Lead

On Saturday (Oct. 12) night in North Canton, Ohio, the No. 4-ranked Ashland University women's soccer team topped Walsh, 2-1, to stay alone in first place in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference table.

The Eagles move to 9-1-1 overall and 6-0-1 in the league following their fifth straight victory overall, while the Cavaliers are 6-3-1, 3-3-1. Ashland also has won five consecutive games against Walsh, and is 12-1 all-time in the series.

Saturday night's scoreless tie was broken in the 32nd minute by senior defender Hope Evans, who scored her first goal of the season, unassisted.

Ashland added what would end up being a key insurance goal in the 66th minute, as senior midfielder Merrik Mihalek potted her third of the campaign, also unassisted.

Walsh's goal came in the 84th minute from Katie Norris, unassisted.
