Eagles Sweep Cavaliers On The Road, Take Solo Lead In Great Midwest East Division

Going into the 2024 Midwest Region Crossover, Ashland University's volleyball team is alone in first place in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference's East Division following a 3-0 (27-25, 25-18, 29-27) win at Walsh on Saturday (Oct. 12) afternoon.
 
The Eagles' third straight 3-0 victory and fifth in a row overall moves them to 12-4 overall and 6-1 in the Great Midwest, while the Cavaliers' seven-match win streak ends, and they are 11-6, 5-2.
 
Ashland's offense, which ended the day with a .328 hitting percentage, was paced by freshman outside hitter Sara Krisza, who had a team-high 16 kills and a .382 percentage. Sophomore setter Kylee Urban ended with 44 assists, three kills, two service aces and seven digs.

  • Sophomore libero Abbey Queen had 13 digs, and junior defensive specialist Macy McNamara 11, to pace AU's defensive effort.
  • Saturday's match featured 23 tie scores and 10 lead changes.
  • Ashland's 12-4 start equals the team's beginning through 16 matches in 2023.
