The No. 2-ranked Ashland University women's basketball team went to Tiffin on Thursday (Jan. 11) night and came away with a 103-62 win, keeping the Eagles alone in first place in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.

Thursday's victory moves Ashland to 13-1 overall and 6-0 in the league, and extends the Eagles' NCAA Division II women's basketball record for most consecutive road victories to 34.

The Dragons are 4-11, 2-5, after a 14
th consecutive loss to AU.

Ashland, now on a five-game winning streak overall, scored a season-high number of points on Thursday night, while turning the ball over a season-low four times.

It didn't take long for the Eagles to assert themselves, taking a 9-0 lead and forcing a Tiffin timeout. The streak to start the game ended at 11-0, and through the first quarter, Ashland had a 27-10 advantage thanks to an 11-of-18 start from the field, 10 assists, and 10 points off six Dragon turnovers.

At halftime, Ashland's lead was 51-24, and leading the charge was freshman guard
Lexi Howe. In just her third collegiate start, Howe had a career-high 18 points in 16 minutes in the first two quarters, and made 7-of-8 from the field.

Also in the first half, the Eagles turned the ball over just once, and forced 12 Dragon turnovers, leading to 16 points.

Ashland led 77-36 going into the fourth quarter, and went on to victory from there.

POST-GAME NUGGETS
- Six Eagles scored in double figures against the Dragons, led by Howe's career-high 22 points on 9-of-13 shooting, to go with three steals.
- Joining Howe in double-digit scoring were junior forward Zoe Miller (21 points, 7-of-10 from the field, 7-of-7 from the foul line, four assists), fifth-year forward Annie Roshak (12 points, 5-of-7 from the field, career-high seven assists, five rebounds), grad guard Molly Dever (career-high 12 points and career-high-tying six rebounds and three steals), junior forward Hayley Smith (10 points, 12 rebounds, career-high five assists, career-high-tying three steals), and senior guard Macy Spielman (10 points, 3-of-4 from the field, 4-of-4 from the foul line).
- The Eagles made 60 percent from the field and 17-of-19 from the charity stripe, and had 28 assists on 39 made field goals. AU also turned 18 Tiffin turnovers into 28 points.
- Ashland improves to 57-3 (.950) as the No. 2 team in D-II, and 309-19 (.942) as a ranked team in D-II.
