No. 1 AU Women Earn Another Shutout, Rout Panthers On The Road

The No. 1-ranked Ashland University women's soccer team ended its road trip in style on Saturday (Sept. 23) afternoon, taking a 6-0 decision at Kentucky Wesleyan.

With the Eagles' sixth clean sheet of the 2023 season, they improve to 6-0-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. The Panthers are 0-6, 0-4.

Ashland has yielded just one goal in the first seven games of the season – a first in program history. The six Eagle goals on Saturday are the most since a 6-1 home win over Malone on Oct. 13, 2022.

NOTABLES
  • Not only did freshman forward Sydney Polen score her first collegiate goal in the 25th minute, she recorded her first collegiate brace with her second tally in the 28th minute. Sophomore forward Dani Hicks had the assist on the first goal, her second of the season, and junior midfielder Merrik Mihalek had the helper on the second, also her second.
