NOTABLES
  • Ashland struck first when junior quarterback Trevor Bycznski found senior wide receiver Dezmin Lyburtus for an 11-yard touchdown pass. That was at the 7:51 mark of the first quarter – and was followed by 28 consecutive Dragon points.
  • When Tiffin got a 20-yard touchdown pass from Kason Martin to Josh Lewis, a 24-yard Martin-to-Devin Nelson scoring strike, a 16-yard Martin-to-Lewis score and a one-yard Martin TD run, the Dragons went into the locker room at halftime leading 28-7.
  • To start the second half, Bycznski found junior wide receiver Tony Pannunzio for a 14-yard major to cut the Eagle deficit to 28-13 with 9:40 left in the third quarter. Forty seconds later, however, Ronald Blackman went 63 yards with a run to put Tiffin on top at 35-13.
  • Sophomore kicker A.J. Rhodes' 41-yard field goal cut the Eagle deficit to 19 points at 35-16, but the Dragons' lead increased to 42-16 with 4:01 left in the third when Tyrese Banks-Dorn ran in from six yards out.
  • The second-half back-and-forth continued with a Bycznski one-yard TD run to make it a 42-23 Dragon lead with 33 seconds to go in the third, but Martin's fourth TD pass, 18 yards to Cole Schnieder, made it 49-23 14 seconds into the final quarter.
  • Bycznski's third touchdown strike of the game, 11 yards to senior wide receiver Jake McLoughlin, made it a 19-point game again at 49-30 with 8:53 to play. Tiffin once again had the answer with 1:59 left, as Banks-Dorn scored from the AU 17 for the game's final margin of victory.
  • Senior tailback Larry Martin ran for 120 yards on only eight carries, while Bycznski was 15-for-27 for 209 yards and three TDs. Senior linebacker Jackson Myers recorded 11 total tackles (eight solo), a sack, a tackle for loss and a pass breakup.
