Two Second-Half Goals Sink Eagle Men At Trevecca Nazarene

Back-to-back Trevecca Nazarene goals in the second half of Thursday (Sept. 21) night's game in Nashville, Tenn., led Ashland University's men's soccer team to a 2-1 loss.
 
The Eagles are 1-5-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, and the Trojans are 2-4-1, 1-2-1.
 
NOTABLES
  • Following a scoreless first half, the Eagles got on the board in the 47th minute when fifth-year midfielder Oliver Whaley, the reigning Great Midwest Offensive Player of the Week, struck for his fifth goal of 2023. The assist went to junior midfielder Oliver Lovell, his first of the season.
  • In the 62nd minute, the Trojans tied the game at 1 on a goal from Jacob Sieber, with the assist going to Ben Sieber. Then, in the 72nd minute, Jack Franklin's goal on a feed from Ben Singer put TNU up by the eventual final margin of victory.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Zach Harrison (0-3-1) made five saves.
  • Ashland took 16 shots to Trevecca's 10, and the Eagles took seven of the game's eight corner kicks.

Ashland's men will finish their three-game road trip on Saturday (Sept. 23) at 4:30 p.m. East/3:30 p.m. Central at Kentucky Wesleyan.
