As announced on Wednesday (June 21) afternoon, Ashland University Director of Tennis Operations
Tim Dunford has been announced as the new men's and women's tennis head coach at Tusculum.
Dunford spent three seasons guiding Eagle tennis. He led Ashland's men and women to spots in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament this past spring, as well as berths in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament in his first season at AU in 2020-21.
Ashland's men's eight wins in 2022-23 were their most since the 13 in the program's return season in 2018-19. The Eagle women's eight victories this past year were their highest total since 11 in 2019-20.
Prior to coming to Ashland, Dunford served as head men's and women's tennis head coach at West Virginia Wesleyan, and head tennis coach at King (Tenn.), Brewton-Parker, Albion, The College of Wooster and Thiel.
Tusculum tennis had a successful 2022-23 campaign – both teams earned spots in the NCAA Division II regionals, the Pioneer women finished ranked No. 23 in the country, and the Tusculum men ended No. 28. Dunford replaces Matt Frost, who became the head men's tennis coach at UNC Asheville.
