Ashland University's men's tennis team concluded play at Spring TennisFest in Hilton Head, S.C., on Wednesday (March 8) with a second in as many days, 5-2, against Chowan.
Â
The Eagles are 5-5 in 2022-23, and the Hawks are 0-8.
"Such a gutty performance from the guys today," said
Tim Dunford, Ashland Director of Tennis Operations. "It's something that this team needed."

NOTABLES
- Ashland began the match by taking the doubles point, thanks to a pair of wins by freshman Tomas Paskauskas and sophomore William Rassat at No. 1 (7-5) and freshmen Benedikt Weinborner and Gabriel Seminario at No. 3 (6-3).
- The Eagles took four of the six singles matches, as well. Rassat won at No. 1 (6-2, 6-4), sophomore Fabian Bussard took a hard-fought win at No. 2 (6-7 (2-7), 7-6 (7-4), 1-0 (10-6), freshman Rodrigo Maura Ludgero did the same at No. 3 (3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-8), and sophomore Omar Prince won 6-3, 6-1, at No. 5.
QUOTABLES
- "Ben and Gabe have not played doubles together at all, with the exception of a tournament in the fall," Dunford said. "For them to step up and win big matches at third doubles yesterday, and especially today...this is exactly what we needed before we play our first conference match."
- "Can not stress just how proud I am of these guys and how they pulled through," Dunford said.
