Ashland University's softball team went 1-1 on the first day of its annual Florida trip on Saturday (March 4), defeating Gannon 7-3 and losing to Sioux Falls 10-0 in five innings.

Against the Golden Knights, Ashland scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to earn the victory. Junior catcher
Jordyn Severns' RBI double gave the Eagles the lead, and was followed by an RBI single from senior third baseman
Hailey Struckman, an RBI double from freshman designated player
Amanda Kolar, and a two-run triple by senior center fielder
Lauren McMillin.

- McMillin was 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs against Gannon, Struckman was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, senior left fielder Kaitlyn Carney was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI, and Severns was 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI.
- Senior pitcher Kayla Ruperto went the distance on a seven-hitter, allowing three runs and three walks and striking out six.
- Against Sioux Falls, freshman Karis Weirich (0-2) yielded three hits, two runs and a walk and struck out three in two innings.
