After an off day, Ashland University's softball team returned to the Florida fields on Thursday (March 9), topping Holy Family 2-1 and losing to Saginaw Valley State, 11-4.

The Eagles' (3-13) victory against the Tigers was their second one-run win of the young season. Ashland's first run came in the bottom of the first inning on a sacrifice fly from sophomore first baseman
Lily Rockwell, and the second came with two outs in the bottom of the fourth when senior designated player
Hailey Struckman rapped an RBI double.

Against the Cardinals, Ashland trailed 4-2 before SVSU scored seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

- The game against the Cardinals saw freshman second baseman Danielle Robbins (2-for-4, run scored), Struckman (2-for-4, RBI) and senior center fielder Lauren McMillin (2-for-4, run scored) get two of AU's 10 hits. Sophomore shortstop Maddy Burdette added two RBIs and a double.
- Senior pitcher Kayla Ruperto (1-3) allowed nine hits, seven runs and three walks and struck out one in three innings. Freshman pitcher Mady Hannahs made her collegiate debut and tossed 2 2/3 scoreless innings.
