Trailing 5-2 going into the bottom of the sixth inning, Ashland put up a seven-spot to take a 9-5 lead. The big hits were sophomore first baseman
Sam Witt's two-run double and sophomore catcher
Ben Peltz's three-run home run.

Grand Valley, however, scored two in the eighth and seven in the ninth to go up 14-9 with a half-inning to go. Ashland mounted a comeback, but sophomore second baseman
Ian Sanders' grand slam in the bottom of the ninth still left the Eagles a run short.

- Sanders was 4-for-5 with a double, slam, four RBIs and two runs scored. Fifth-year right fielder/third baseman Seth Schroeder went 3-for-5 with three runs scored, Peltz was 2-for-4 with the homer, four RBIs and two runs scored, Witt was 2-for-5 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored, and redshirt freshman right-fielder Chris Franks was 2-for-3 with a run scored.
- Freshman right-hander Colin Skolaris (0-1) allowed six hits, six runs (five earned) and no walks and struck out two in one inning out of the bullpen.
