Ashland University's baseball team finished its annual Florida spring break trip on Saturday (March 11) with a fourth consecutive loss, 5-1, to Wayne State (Neb.).
The Eagles return home at 7-5, and the Wildcats are 6-7.
Wayne State scored runs in the top of the third (one), fourth (one) and fifth (two) innings to take a 4-0 lead. Ashland's lone run came in the bottom of the eighth when fifth-year third baseman
Seth Schroeder brought it in on a groundout.
The Wildcats finished the game's scoring with a run in the ninth.
NOTABLES
- Sophomore center fielder Cam Miller went 2-for-3 on Saturday.
- Senior right-hander Josh Meyer (2-1) allowed seven hits, four runs (two earned) and no walks and struck out two in 5 1/3 innings.
