On Friday (Feb. 24) in Evansville, Ind., Ashland University's softball team lost 6-1 to Missouri S&T and 4-1 to Quincy at the Blue Bridge Battle.

Against the Miners, Ashland (1-5) scored in the top of the first inning when senior pitcher
Kayla Ruperto walked with the bases loaded.

S&T countered with a run in the bottom of the first, then scored three in the fourth and two in the fifth.

The game against the Hawks saw Quincy score in the first (one run), second (two) and third (one) innings. The Eagles' run came in the bottom of the fifth, as senior center fielder
Lauren McMillin scored on a Hawks error.

NOTABLES
- Senior third baseman Hailey Struckman (2-for-4) and sophomore first baseman Lily Rockwell (2-for-2, double) recorded the Eagles' four hits against S&T.
- Ruperto (0-1) took the loss against the Miners, allowing 13 hits, six runs (three earned) and a walk and striking out five in 5 1/3 innings.
- Against Quincy, freshman pitcher Karis Weirich (0-1) yielded five hits, four runs and five walks and struck out three in the complete-game outing.
