Eagle Esports Brings Home Hardware, Shows Well In Playoffs

With the fall 2023 semester winding down, Ashland University esports plays in a multitude of competitions, both in-person and online.
  • After an undefeated 5-0 regular season, Call of Duty Varsity Plus has reached the finals in National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) Starleague.
  • The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate team traveled to Westville, Ind., for the Midwest Esports Conference (MEC) Fall Finals in-person tournament on Nov. 11-12, placing third place overall out of eight teams. The team received a trophy for its final placement, adding to the program's growing collection of physical awards.
  • In its first season with National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC), Ashland's Counter-Strike 2 team earned a playoff berth, and currently is in the semifinal round.

UP NEXT
  • Call of Duty Varsity Plus will play against Talladega College in the NACE Starleague Finals on Wednesday (Dec. 6) at 7 p.m.
  • Counter-Strike 2 will compete against University of Central Florida for a place in the NECC Finals on Wednesday at 8 p.m.
